“May this house be sublime” – the Hebrew graffiti carved into the stone of this monument, which was built c. 1100.

Rediscovered in 1976 under the courtyard of the Rouen Palais de Justice, its remains have continued to fuel debate on its original purpose: rabbinical school? private home or synago

Accompanied by a tour guide, come and discover the archaeological crypt housing this unique building in France, evidence of the Jewish community in Rouen, at the heart of the historic centre, since at least the 11th century.
